The Birth of A Trusted New and Used Car Dealership

James V. McConnell Sr. bought old car row’s Trail Pontiac-Cadillac in Mobile in the mid-50s. By the early 1970s, the dealership relocated to West Mobile’s Dauphin Street. Management and operations were inherited by McConnell’s sons, James "Jim" Jr. and Edwin W. "Eddie".

The automotive industry has changed a great deal over the years, and McConnell GMC has adapted, growing stronger and savvier. Despite the sad passing of both James McConnell Sr. and Jim, Jr., the family, friends, and employees of the McConnell GMC dealership managed to strengthen their spirits and progress, making each the heart and soul of the entire operation.
